SICE Journal of Control, Measurement, and System Integration (JCMSI) announces that it will publish a special issue entitled the Special Issue on Relationality Design and Systems: Focusing on Relationships among Human, ‘Mono’ and ‘Koto’ to Design Systems in January, 2018.  The concept of relationality here denotes interactions through which two entities mutually influence each other, linkage over time and space, and context as a result of accumulated interactions and linkage. ‘Mono’ in Japanese denotes tangible and physically perceived thing/entity, while ‘Koto’ denotes intangible and cognitively conceived thing/entity.  This special issue focuses on the relationality design and systems, where human, ‘Mono’ and ‘Koto’ are interdependent and function together, and relationships among them enable to dynamically change its functionality and behaviors. Papers treating the measurement and analytical methods of relationships among elements that constitute a system, and investigating the significance of relationships in improving the system performance, are particularly welcome.  This special issue aims to find topics from several layers of relationality design and systems; from the lowest, molecular level through the DNA, cells to the highest level — artificial and human societies. All aspects of relationality design and systems are welcome, including – but not limited to – the following topics:

_ Relationship among people in community activity
_ Relationship among people in teams
_ Relationship among biological substances and functions in living organisms
_ Relationship among people and robots
_ Relationship among people and agents
